Jason Voorhees is a central figure in the horror movie franchise Friday the 13th. He is primarily known as the vengeful, seemingly unstoppable killer stalking the grounds of Camp Crystal Lake.
While not the initial killer in the first movie Friday the 13th (1980), where his mother Pamela Voorhees is the antagonist, Jason's first on-screen appearance as the killer is in Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981). In this film, he begins his reign of terror, seeking revenge for his mother's death.
Jason is often depicted wearing a hockey mask, a visual element that became synonymous with the character and the entire Friday the 13th franchise. He is characterized by his silent, brutal methods of killing, establishing him as a classic slasher villain.
